Taxonomy of Business Intelligence Strategies (HICSS)

چکیده
Today, many forms of business intelligence coexist in organizations. This situation often leads to a misunderstanding of what business intelligence (BI) is. This purpose of this study is to propose a taxonomy of BI strategies. Based on the BI literature and professional case studies, we created a taxonomy of BI strategies. We developed this taxonomy iteratively with seven BI professionals, using both theory and data to enrich the profiles. This procedure resulted in the creation of four profiles of BI strategies employed in organizations. We named these strategies operational business intelligence, corporate business intelligence, predictive intelligence, and competitive intelligence. Each of these strategies is based on the same set of dimensions: governance, data, technologies, communication methods and skills. This taxonomy has implications for both research and practice and provides an essential foundation for future research on BI.
